Hello

My name is Jessica and I love the Lord, my family, and helping people learn and grow! I majored in Elementary Education at Wheaton College (IL) and went on to get my Masters in Educational Leadership through NAU. I've been teaching since 2007 and have taught many ages and subjects. I am a certified teacher in AZ and have been blessed to attend many wonderful training sessions over the years, including becoming an IEW registered instructor.

I've taught in the public schools, private school, charter schools, and homeschool my own children!

I often say homeschooling isn't for the faint of heart but it is good for the heart! I take a very eclectic approach to education because each student is so different. That being said, I've learned a lot through trial and error over the years, and try to utilize a variety of curriculum and methods that I've found helpful for a wide variety of students.

My Story

After teaching at a christian school for years, the Lord opened an opportunity to homeschool my own children. A couple of families reached out and asked if I could help teach their students as well, and that was the beginning of our first "homeschool cottage." During this time I noticed the benefits of being able to curate students' educations. We found curriculum that worked for them. We allowed students to move during the day. We weren't restricted by bells or school calendars. As a result, the students began to thrive instead of just "survive." My own children began learning more life skills and pursuing things that truly interested them. This was possible because we often finished subjects in half the time they would have taken in public school due to the low "student to teacher" ratio.

Contrary to beautiful social media posts, home-education isn't all rainbows and butterflies. It's often challenging, messy, and full of doubts. Despite all that, I HAVE found that home education usually gives parents and children the most fertile soil to learn and grow, often in unexpected ways. Over the years, the biggest barriers to starting or continuing homeschool I've heard from parents are: 1) "I couldn't never teach my kid" 2) "I would need someone to help me" or 3) "I don't know when I would have time for ____"

As a result, I decided to create a program that came alongside parents in a really practical way, so they felt encouraged in their desire and decision to homeschool their child/ren. In a world that tells you that you need to "do it all" I think it's important to acknowledge that we can not, in fact, "do it all" and sometimes the best thing to do is prayerfully outsource something so you can be more present with your family. The courses we offer at Elevate are meant to come alongside homeschooling families and lighten the load for parents while enriching the educational experiences of the students.

Elevate Enrichment Program is a very distinctive program that takes the concepts of microschools and co-ops and puts them together into a program that offers more continuity, instruction, and structure than a co-op (and no required volunteer hours) and less time and monetary commitment than a private microschool. The student to teacher ratio is way lower than you would ever find at a public school and we want to keep it that way!

Our core values at Elevate

  • Teach from a biblical, christian worldview

  • Respect others, serve others

  • Provide quality educational content and methodologies

  • Prepare students for real-life skills and knowledge
